Financial Assistance
It surprises many people to learn that there are individuals and families living in our community who need assistance in order to benefit from Wilton Family Y programs. These people are our neighbors.
In many cases, the need for financial assistance arises from a short-term situation such as a medical emergency, job loss, divorce or income reversal. Others are chronic, where a family is caring for an elderly relative, is struggling with a disability, or has a child with challenges who needs special services.
Open To All
The Y’s mission is to be open and accessible to all, so that everyone in our community has an equal opportunity to participate in Y membership, programs, services and social activities, regardless of financial situation or ability. The Y allocates funds each year for financial assistance and community outreach programs so that children can attend summer day camp, senior citizens can participate in water exercise, adults can rehabilitate from an accident or illness, and families can spend quality time swimming together at the Y.
Our philosophy is non-competitive and our goal is for each individual to have fun progressing at his/her own pace and to take maximum benefit possible from their experiences at the Y. Y programs offer enjoyable social experiences for all members of the family, as well as skill building opportunities like swimming, gymnastics, sports and games. Every member the Y services faces his/her own personal challenges, physically and mentally, to one degree or another; the Y stands ready to assist each of them.
How To Apply
1. Review the Financial Assistance Policies to be sure you are familiar with the terms and conditions.
2. Complete the Financial Assistance Application and attach the appropriate income documentation.
3. Fill out the Membership/Program Form to include the list of services you are requesting.
4. Return the Application and Program Form to Karen Strickland in the Y Development office.
5. You will be notified promptly as to what level of assistance you will receive.
