NEW Gymnastics Training Center

Grand Opening
On January 30, the Wilton Family Y gymnastics program moved to a new Training Center located at 644 Danbury Road on the upper floor of the former Stand Firm Fitness building. Over the past several years, the Y's gymnastics classes and competitive team have outgrown the Y gymnasium as enrollment increased significantly. The new Gymnastics Training Center offers greatly expanded space which allows for a permanent set-up for Y gymnastics programs and equipment.

Dedication
The Y's Gymnastics Training Center will be officially dedicated on February 15th with a ribbon cutting ceremony by town officials and a reception hosted by the Gymnastics Parents Organization. Registration for Early Spring gymnastics classes offered at the new facility opens to both Y members and non members on February 6th, with that 7 week program session running from Feb. 27 - April 14. Special introductory gymnastics classes and activities are being planned for the Training Center during the school break week Feb. 20-24.

Y Executive Director Bob McDowell said, "After many years of searching for a permanent location that best serves our Wilton Family Y gymnastics participants, we are very excited to have secured a new home for our program at 644 Danbury Road just north of the Y on Rt. 7, across from Calico Corners. We are leasing over 5,000 square feet of space that will be dedicated for our Gymnastics Team, our Progressive and Pre-School Gymnastics Classes and other related programs.

"Under the leadership of Gymnastics Director Tom Jagelka, the Y program has continued to grow in quality and quantity to a point where we needed to relocate in order to provide an appropriate training facility, rather than be limited by the smaller gymnasium of our main building. Our goal is to serve more young people through the sport of Gymnastics, and this move allows for both improved quality and increased capacity. Since 2012 is an Olympic year, we know that interest and excitement for gymnastics really peaks, and we want to be able to fully accommodate everyone who desires to participate.

"I want to thank all the families comprising the Y Gymnastics Parents Organization who have given so much time and effort towards making the Center a reality. We would not have been successful in this endeavor without their strong support."

All Early Spring gymnastics classes are listed on the Y's website www.wiltonymca.org and enrollment can be made online starting Feb. 6.
